Beyond Report Cards: GIIS KL PTM Fosters Entrepreneurship and Community Spirit

GIIS KL's recent Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) transformed into a lively bazaar, buzzing with student initiative and community spirit. Two student clubs, the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Club and the Entrepreneurship Club, joined forces to create this multifaceted event that was both fun and purposeful.

Spreading Awareness through Delights: SDG Club's Food Fest

The SDG Club took center stage with a mission to raise awareness about SDG Goal 2: Zero Hunger. They named their initiative the "SDG Club Food Fest," transforming the school grounds into a bustling marketplace filled with colorful food stalls manned by enthusiastic CBSE wing students. The student entrepreneurs offered a tempting array of Indian delicacies – from savory snacks and desserts to refreshing mocktails.

But the event offered more than just delicious treats. Proceeds from the sales went towards purchasing food items for those in need during Ramadan. This initiative instilled valuable values in the students, such as gratitude, empathy, and a commitment to helping others, exemplifying GEM 8: Community Care of the 9Gems Holistic Framework that GIIS KL upholds.

A Marketplace for Budding Moguls: The Enterprising Bazaar

The Entrepreneurship Club wasn't far behind, setting up their own stalls within the bazaar, brimming with a vibrant selection of Indian favorites – think Gulab Jamun, Golguppas, Bhel Poori, and Samosas. These young business minds weren't just selling delicious food; they were putting their entrepreneurial skills into practice.

Enhancing the bazaar's offerings, the Entrepreneurship Club partnered with female entrepreneurs from KL Business AddA. These inspiring women showcased their organic cosmetic products, offering parents a chance to support local businesses while pampering themselves.

Students from Grades 7, 9, and 10 honed their talents in manufacturing, trading, marketing, and sales. Outgoing Grade 10 students even took on managerial roles, overseeing cash transactions and managing their stalls with a true entrepreneurial spirit. The bazaar managed to signify several aspects of the 9Gems Holistic Framework that GIIS KL tries to instill in our students – Gem 1: Academic Excellence, Gem 4: Personality Development, Gem 5: Innovation and Creativity, Gem 6: Entrepreneurship & Leadership, and Gem 7: Universal Values and Ethics.

The SDG and Entrepreneurship Clubs' combined efforts led to a resounding success. The GIIS KL community came together, enjoying delicious food, supporting student ventures, and contributing to a worthy cause. This PTM Bazaar went beyond the ordinary, demonstrating the well-rounded education GIIS KL provides, nurturing not just academic excellence but also essential life skills like innovation, responsibility, and social awareness.
